Intro

I worked as Designer and Design Manager at Tiger Dental GmbH. redesigning company’s current website (tigerdental.com) by engaging in UX Design, UI Design support, and content creation, while monitoring external developers.

Tiger Dental GmbH.  is an innovative company that creates special orthodontic solutions and appliances, specifically for skeletal anchorage distalization and expansion. This project consisted of the redesign and development of the website and e-commerce experience.

Business goals

  1. Provide customers and potential clientes information about the innovative  products produced and distributed by the company.
  2.  Offer the best experience posible in  the online store linked to external shipping services.

Used tools

Understanding the user

For this projects it is very important to know the users and their motivations.  Also to be clear in the business goals  to find a middle point.

Target market

It is crucial that the messages is clear and can be comprehended by all potential customers. However, is it not that simple, the target market is a small niche that involves for example: orthodoncists, maxillofacial surgeon.

Goals and what was important to focus

The products and solutions developed by Tiger Dental are for distalization or mesialization. Often times to create space in the mouth patients must lose their teeth, however, these devices create space without the need for extraction. And two flagship products that solve this are generated through years of research, and use mini implants to attach to the patient’s jaw. Currently, mini implants are not a very common method in orthodontics; given how recent this solution is; for this reason it is important to clarify how the products work and to credit the research that has been done that certifies their efficiency.

Despite the low use of implants in the community, Tiger Dental has gained space and clients in the industry thanks to conferences and courses.

Userflow & Architecture of information

In the beginning of the project we worked with a Russian agency called DNext. We sat together to undertand the project requierement and the workflows of the user. In this first phase we came up with the Tiger Dental Sitemap and workflows.

This sitemap was a result of  efforts by us in TigerDental and the agency DNext.   **Click on the image to expand.

Wireframes

After comprehending better the project and vision, I gave DNext some wireframes that exposed the idea we had and they created the initial design and components.

Solution

Responsiveness

Nowadays a responsive website is crucial for a better overall user experience, and also the site will be used by sales colleagues in congresses and in those cases they use tablets. Therefor while designing and devoloping the site/e-commerce, me and the external development team worked together to adapt and test the site to small and medium screen devices.

Tests

As we were working on wordpress, we were implementing and testing directly there. (Nothing were published until the end)

Final designs

The design had to be adapted for implementation in a different CRM. This last stage was done together with external developers and I was managing the proper implementation of the design and its adaptations which I developed myself in some cases.

Implementation

The whole project took around 1,5 year. The first 5 months we were working with the Russian Agency DNext, but after we decided to implement the site in a more generic CMS. Then the implementation was done using WP Bakery page builder in WordPress. It took around 4-5 months to implement the front-end, and around 4 months working on the API’s integrations.  Which includes a shipping/tracking, payment integrations and the used CRM and ERP.

During this process, I supported the developers implementing some front end sections and solving e-commerce topics on the way.
